How to make Charcuterie boards

Charcuterie board, shmorgeshbord, whatever you want to call it, they don’t have to be confusing, they also shouldn’t be boring, or overwhelming for you to make. Just put some cheeses on the platter and start filling in the empty spaces!

1}. Find your board.

First things first, find your favorite board that would work depending on the size of party it’s for. Like a 8×12 platter should work for a party around 10-15 people, depending on how many cheese eaters there will be:) This board we used was made local by the same guy that made our wonderful cabinets.

This one is a tray with lemons printed on it, go extreme or go simple!!

2}. Start with the cheese.

Cheese, yum!!!! Fresh cheese, aged cheese, cheese dips, you name it, there all good. Here’s a few ideas for your next board. I think 2-5 is a good number of cheeses, just place them evenly apart.

This edible flower goat cheese is beautiful for any occasion! Layer with cherry flavored goat cheese as well, this is a delicious edition to any charcuterie board.

This goat cheese is the bomb!!!! When we past through Thompsonville, GA we stopped at a coffee shop there then headed across the street to a cute little cheese place and deli. There they had a lemon blueberry thyme goat cheese that I just knew I had to make. So I simmered blueberries with small sliced lemons and fresh thyme then after cooled I pressed the goat cheese with the jam, then topping it off with chamomile flowers if as like heaven on earth!!

Kerrygold reserve cheese is a wonderful smooth well balanced cheese that serves well with apples and crackers. Cut a few chunks out and set them next to the cheese so people don’t feel bad when they “cut the cheese”;). (sorry I just had to say that).

We also had kingdom sharp white, and a stonefruit goat cheese. My dad starred a beverage company and one of our flavors is my favorite, StoneFruit Haymaker, it pairs so well in goat cheese!!! Try swirling in some jam like blackberry, or apricot would be delicious!!

3}. Fill in those gaps!!

No body likes empty spots that food could be filled into. With this board I made sourdough baguettes and thinly sliced them, I also made rye and spelt everything sourdough crackers, and cut up some apples the placed some blueberries and white mulberries, then adding some apple mint for some freshness for the platter.

There’s a lot on this board, really your board can be as boring or as fun as you want them to be!!! Here’s a list of what’s on this board:

  • Sliced figs
  • Sliced apples
  • Raspberries
  • Dried mulberries
  • Dried bilberries
  • Blueberries
  • Salami
  • Cashews
  • Flowers
  • Apple mint

Now it’s time to bring to a party! Enjoy your amazing shmorgesboard/charcuterie board!!
