The best, easiest, Chocolate mousse with dark chocolate swirl… {only 3 ingredients}

It’s like, what you’ve always wanted. But better. And easier. Who doesn’t like chocolate mousse? It’s creamy, chocolatey, smooth, sweet, and just so darn delicious!!! Top it off with some whipped cream and cocoa and you got an amazing dessert.

Chocolate mousse started in the late 19th century in France by a famous painter. The traditional word for chocolate mousse was called “mayonnaise de chocolat” (I probably wouldn’t have eaten it with that name!). Chocolate mousse can be made in many different ways, some make it with whipped eggs whites some with heavy cream. We went a little out of the box with this one and coated the cup then filled it with dark chocolate swirled mousse.

How you make this delicious mousse…

First you heat up heavy whipping cream. Place your chocolate chips in a medium sized bowl. Once cream is just before boiling, pour it over the chocolate chips and let it sit for at least 5 minutes then give it a stir to melt the chocolate chips (this is like a ganache). Then you make whipped cream, then fold the ganache into your whipped cream.

Pour some of the mousse in the cups then swirl around insuring the whole cup is covered. Dump the remaining out.

Now your going to make your dark chocolate… pour one cup of mousse into bowl then add 1/3 cup of dark cocoa powder and mix well. The dark mousse will be thicker, so you gotta work fast with it.

Pour the dark chocolate over the rest the mousse and giver a swirl.

Now pour into your coated cups…

Oooooo….. yummmmm…..

Now tap the cups to set.

Now pipe your whipped cream on top!! Then sprinkle with cocoa (maybe now quite as much as I did;).

Enjoy!!!!

What’s in it?

  • 3 cups heavy whipping cream (divide)
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup dark cocoa

How do you do it? Easy, just follow these steps:

  1. First you heat up heavy whipping cream. Place your chocolate chips in a medium sized bowl. Once cream is just before boiling, pour it over the chocolate chips and let it sit for at least 5 minutes then give it a stir to melt the chocolate chips (this is your ganache).
  2. While your ganache is cooking, you make whipped cream by whipping 1 cup heavy whipping cream on high speed until fully whipped then fold the ganache into your whipped cream. (That’s a lot of “whip”;).
  3. Fill your cups half way and swirl it around to insure you coated all of the edges. Then pour the remaining back into the bowl.
  4. Now your going to make your dark chocolate… pour one cup of mousse into bowl then add 1/3 cup of dark cocoa powder and mix well. The dark mousse will be thicker, so you gotta work fast with it.
  5. Drizzle the dark chocolate over the milk chocolate and giver a swirl with a tooth pick or butter knife.
  6. Fill the cups with the swirled mousse and let sit, this is really up to you on how firm you like your mousse (and how well you have will-power;), the longer it sits the firmer your mousse will be. One set, make more whipped cream to top it off with, you know, because there’s not enough fats in this mousse already!! Sprinkle with some cocoa and enjoy!!!
