Whey protein is so good for, but first, why protein?

Proteins are the main building blocks of your body, used to make muscles, tendons, organs and skin, as well as enzymes, hormones, neurotransmitters and various tiny molecules that serve many important functions.

Whey protein health benefits

  • Help treat type 2 diabetes
  • Anti inflammatory
  • Reduces hunger
  • Anti-cancer properties

There are also health benefits to the nuts and seeds in the recipe but we’re focusing on protein here. 🙂

Not a fan of gingerbread but still want protein balls? Try this recipe: Best protein balls you ever have.

I made a gingerbread latte to go with the protein balls, using the same spices and molasses with maple syrup and stirred it into our milk steamer with some whole milk.

The trick to really good protein balls is using Kirkland signature mixed but butter from Costco, it gives an amazing texture and it’s easy to mix the flavors around with it.

Not only does the protein have health benefits, but the other ingredients as well! Like the spices we use have anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-cancerous effects, and much more health benefits while molasses has some key nutrients like manganese, magnesium, iron, vitamin B6, selenium, and more!!

Makes 18 balls, take as long as you can put the ingredients in a bowl.

What’s in them?

  • 1 cup unflavored whey powder
  • 1 cup mixed but butter
  • 1/8 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup molasses

  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon clove
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla (I prefer powdered)
  • Pinch of salt
