
Every Sunday I look forward to waking up to the sweet smell of pancakes in the morning. Freshly made amazingly awesome daddy’s pancakes. Now we want to share the recipe with you guys!! The flavors, the textures, the all around amazingness of these pancakes created easily is going to have your family doing pancakes every Sunday for sure.

Dad has been making pancakes on Sunday for as long as I can remember, he stemmed his recipe off of a truck stop pancake recipe and made it even better!!

What makes these pancakes so amazing? Daddy’s love of course!! Oh you mean the ingredients? Ok let’s break it down…
Sour cream: fat and solids helps create amazing flavor and moisture to the pancakes.
Raw milk: or whole milk if you can find raw. Milk softens the batter while being your liquid and adding amazing flavor.
Farm fresh eggs: being the thing that binds the batter all together, eggs are pretty amazing. Use farm fresh for better taste.
Sourdough discard: being optional as we haven’t been making sourdough out whole life, it does add a nice flavor while benefiting your health and helps leaven the batter.
Flour: use a high quality all purpose flour for optimal flavor and use of binding the batter together.
Baking soda and baking powder: a leaving agent, this combination is crucial for getting that amazing texture.
Real maple syrup with browned European butter: real guys, not the corn syrup flavored as maple that is just sticky and gross but the real deal, maple syrup that God gave to us in maple trees, just pay the extra $8 and get yourself some real maple syrup. Daddy’s pancakes just ain’t the same with that fake stuff!! Oh, and using the grass fed European Kerrygold butter creates an amazing topping. I know it’s expensive too but hey, it’s Sunday!!

My favorite way to eat these pancakes are topping them off with Kirkland’s signature Nut Butter and sliced bananas then top it off with that awesome browned butter maple syrup. Oh yeah.

Add some loose leaf rooibos when you are browning the butter for a fun twist on the syrup!!

Ok, ready for the secret most amazing pancake recipe that is super easy to make and fool proof? Have fun!!

What’s in them?
- 2 cups sour cream
- 4 cups raw milk
- 6 eggs
- sourdough discard (optional)
- 6 cups flour
- 2 Tablespoons baking powder
- 2 Tablespoons baking soda
- European style butter
- Browned butter maple syrup (recipe below)
How do ya make them?
- Mix together sour cream, milk, and eggs until combined. Mix in sourdough discard if using.
- Add in flour, baking soda, and baking powder then mix until just combined, do not over mix!
- Preheat griddle to 375°F or pans on your stove to medium meat. Once preheated, slab a bit of butter on your griddle/pan then pour some batter over it. Using a 8oz ladle is the easiest thing to use for pouring over the pan. Cool until you see bubbles popping up then flip. Cool until golden and fully cooked throughly, continue until all the batter is gone.
- Serve with browned butter maple syrup and enjoy!!

How to make browned butter maple syrup: as you know by know I have a big family, so for us this is what the recipe looks like… 1 stick kerrygold butter, one whole jug of the organic real maple syrup from Costco, and a pinch of salt. How you make it is you put your butter in the pan, after it melts then turn it to medium high heat and watch it bubble constantly stirring. You will start to smell the aromatic butter turning into a nutty smell. Add maple syrup and salt then reduce heat to medium. Bring to a soft boil then blend with a stick blender. Serve warm with fresh warm pancakes!! No need for butter on your pancakes, this amazing maple syrup gots it built right in!!
