Wait, another way to make coffee?? I’m in!! Have you ever heard or tried dalgona coffee? Well, back in 2019 this thing started going crazy!! Then my sister in law showed it to me and I was like, yes!! Why did I not make this recipe any sooner? I do not know. But here it is now!! ☺️

What is Dalgona coffee you may be asking? Well, it’s a creamy mixture created by whipping equal parts instant espresso, sugar, and boiling water. It creates this airy-creamy-fluffy-yummy ness that you top on milk (unless you “accidentally” just like the bowl clean before you get it in the cup). If you have never made it, you have to try it at least once!!

History of Dalgona…
Wait, what does the word “Dalgona” even come from? Well, dalgona is a Korean candy also known as “honeycomb toffee” (you know, the sweet caramel-y candy with holes in it?) funny right? Dalgona coffee, doesn’t even contain dalgona. Starting in South Korea by an actor who ordered “whipped coffee” from an eatery saying it tasted like dalgona the candy, soon after that this stuff was all over making people go nuts for the fluffy coffee yumminess!!

The drink is inspired from the Indian coffee beverage known as phenti huicoffee, phitti hui coffee, or beaten coffee. The difference is that when making phenti hui coffee, milk is poured on top of the dalgona rather than spooning it on top of the milk.
Also similar is a frappé.

This looks super hard to make...
Nope, it’s not. It’s so easy!! The first time I made this was with my sister and watching the espresso, sugar, and water mix in the mixer and not doing anything was so disappointing… but then… “is it fluffing up?” Oooooooohhh yeah, it was!! Then topping it over milk we went crazy over this stuff!! It’s stout, but mixed with milk it’s soooo good.
All it is is 1 part instant coffee, 1 part sugar, 1 part boiling water.

USE REAL COFFEE!! Instant coffee sounds very scary, I know. But after doing some research I saw that instant coffee really isn’t bad for you as long as you use organic!! It’s a process that you literally make the coffee beans so humid that they drip out there moisture and dry it up creating dried, instant, coffee. Don’t use normal coffee beans. It won’t work sadly:(.
MILK!! I love milk, and milk really is not bad for you unless you have an intolerance to it!! But milk has necessary nutrients like calcium, potassium, phosphorus, selenium, B vitamins, and vitamin D!! Raw milk is even better for you if it’s available in your area!!

What’s in it?
- 2 Tablespoons Instant espresso
- 2 Tablespoons brown sugar (or regular)
- 2 Tablespoons boiling water
- Milk to serve
How to make it?
- In a bowl of a stand mixer, whip the instant coffee, sugar, and boiling water until light and fluffy. Thus usually take about 6-8 minutes.
- Serve over milk and enjoy!!
