Blue cornflower watermelon ginger-mint fruit melody

Lookin’ for something light, beautiful, and delicious? Try this blue cornflower watermelon ginger-mint fruit melody (aka, fruit salad, I just think “salad” should mean greens;)). Perfect for parties, bbqs, bonfires, or even just a snack!

BLUE CORNFLOWER Y’ALL!! I was lookin’ at our wild flower mix we have in our berry patch that that dad planted last year to figure out witch ones can be edible. I saw these beautiful blue flowers I loved… I researched and figured out they are “blu cornflower” and I knew I had to make something with these flowers. Their just so beautiful even when pulled apart!

Just to change it up a bit, this fruit melody is made not only with circles but with triangles! Feel free to change it up if ya like!

Blue cornflower also goes by the names: Aciano, Audifoin, Bachelor’s Buttons, Barbeau, Bleuet, Bleuet des Champs, Bluebonnet, Bluebottle, Bluebow, Blue Cap, Blue Centaury, Casse-Lunettes, Centaurea cyanus, Centaurea segetum, Centaurée Bleue, Centaurée Bleuet, Cornflower, Cyani Blossoms, Cyani Flos, Cyani Flowers, Cyani Petals, Flor Celeste, and Hurtsickl, I think I’ll stick with cornflower;)

How to assemble this fruit salad…

Collect blue cornflowers and ginger-mint from your garden or farmers market. And give a gentle wash.

Cut watermelon in half.

Did you know… Watermelons are high in vitamin C and A which helps support your immune system and healthy skin, watermelons are also good for your heart. There about 97% water such helps keep you hydrated. Their also high in magnesium, iron, calcium, phosphorus and potassium.

Cut one of the halves in slices like pictured above. These will be for your triangles.

With the other half, circle out melon balls using a melon baller or round tablespoon measure (that’s what I did!). To do so, press hard on scooper and circle it out so that it creates a round ball, then place in a bowl and continue.

Now, scrape the side of the watermelon to get it clean. Be carful not to tear the watermelon.

Now pour the juice of the watermelon in a cup (makes a tasty watermelon lemonade).

For the triangles, your going to start by cutting the slice into 4 large triangles as pictured above, then cut the ends of those triangles into smaller pieces (pictured below) and now cut the rest into triangles.

Now you have your circles and triangles, let toss in some of the good stuff!!

Pull the cornflowers into littler flowers (their made up of tiny flowers).

Cut the ginger-mint into ribbons and toss into the watermelon mix.

Ginger-mint can help digestive issues, treat colds, and help relive headaches alongside with all its other health benefits.

Blue cornflower is used to treat fevers, constipation, water retention, and chest congestion. Their also good for your liver and gallbladder.

Now toss your fruit melody until incorporated.

Now pour back into your watermelon rind. And serve!

Simple yet beautiful! Feel free to change things up a bit! Here are some ideas:
