Creamy licorice with as a digestive drink? Yes please!!! The detoxifying properties of the licorice and charcoal mixed with the digestive properties of the fennel and anise and the essential vitamins and minerals in the milk make this a perfect drink for anytime.

When I think of licorice, I have two memories that take me back to 5years old back in California; one is the delightful candy made with molasses, anise, and flour, my dad would take those delicious little licorice scotties home, the other is this amazing ice cream that we had sent to us as samples, (at the time my dad had a frozen yogurt business). It was creamy with the taste of licorice, it was sooooo good. I must say to this day that may be in my top 3 favorite ice creams.

You may have notice these little “star” like charcoal pieces in the pictures, I wish I could tell you how to do that but honestly I don’t know how this happened, I added another capsule of charcoal to the latte after it was in the milk frothier, I then mixed it and poured it into the mugs and some how, it made this little “stars”, dad says it’s probably a magnetic charge of some sort. Interesting!!!

Now about these ingredients…
Anise is antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial. Anise is good for your heart, natural cold fighter, kills infections, help joint pain, help you sleep, eases coughing, and a digestive!!
Fennel seed is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiviral, antimicrobial, anti-cancer, and antibacterial. Fennel seeds are good for your heart, may surpass appetite, and is high in manganese, a bioavailable mineral that helps other vitamins absorb into the body.
Licorice root is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-cancer, and antimicrobial. Licorice root may reduce acid reflux, helps indigestion, help respiratory conditions, cure canker sores, help with liver protection, and most importantly here, help digestion.
Molasses is full of minerals and vitamins, like iron, calcium, magnesium, vitamin B6, potassium, and selenium. Molasses may help bone density, is good for the blood and heart,
Milk is also high on vitamins and minerals like calcium, potassium, phosphorus, selenium, vitamin D, B12, and B2. Milk is also high in protein, good for the bones, prevents weight gain, and many more.

Licorice is like one of my favorite candy, it’s chewy, sweet, and tastes like anise. Amazing! But licorice is not for everyone, in my family only like %30 of us actually like licorice. Hope, one of my sisters (she’s a twin to my other sister) absolutely loves licorice, and she helped me with this recipe:). Hope y’all like licorice and enjoy it!!!
